Offer Description
The project aims to develop new molecular probes that will enable endogenous proteins to be studied and monitored directly in their native cellular environment. Protein engineering methods will then be used to generate probes from these specific molecular recognition modules that will be used in different but complementary imaging modalities, ranging from super-resolution fluorescence microscopies to single protein tracking techniques via cryo-electron microscopy.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop new tools for studying endogenous molecules in their cellular context. These tools will be designed to image the same protein complex with both fluorescence microscopy and (cryo-)electron microscopy, revealing their ultrastructural organization and understanding their functions.
Apply directed evolution to generate new binders
Characterize new binders using biophysical and biochemical methods
Design binders for use as imaging tools
Characterize imaging tools in various cellular contexts (adherent cells, macrophages, neurons, cancer cells)
Imaging molecular organization and dynamics in subcellular structures
Develop cryo-electron microscopy approaches in cells
Created in 2011, IINS brings together 180 scientists from different nationalities and backgrounds (chemistry, structural biology, molecular and cell biology, biophysics, clinical medicine, advanced imaging, neurobiology) to understand brain function in healthy and pathological states. IINS conducts multidisciplinary research at the cutting edge of synapse biology and neural systems physiology, with a particular focus on the development of new technologies and tools.
