Offer Description
The IGMM conducts excellent and innovative fundamental research with potential implications in the biomedical field and molecular and cellular medicine, particularly in treating cancer and certain infectious or genetic diseases. It has a long-standing internationally recognized reputation in the disciplinary fields that constitute its main research axes: RNA Function and Maturation, Gene Regulation and Epigenetics, Tumorigenesis, Cell Cycle and Death, Immunology, Viral Infections, and more recently, Cellular Metabolism. The IGMM is located on the CNRS campus on Route de Mende and shares numerous programs and technological platforms with its neighboring partner institutes, the CRBM and the IRIM. Approximately 200 people work at the IGMM, distributed among 17 research teams, and a joint laboratory with a private company. The IGMM has access to the Montpellier BioCampus platforms, including notably microscopy, genomics, and proteomics facilities. The candidate will be assigned to the team led by D. Libri and O. Porrua, which studies gene expression mechanisms using biochemical, molecular biology, and genomic approaches.
Main mission: To adapt the R-loop mapping techniques developed in the yeast model by the host laboratory to the human model
Activities:
- Generate high-resolution maps of R-loops in human cells using immunoprecipitation coupled with high-throughput sequencing techniques. The candidate will perform all steps of these experiments: culturing human cells under study conditions, constructing cDNA libraries for high-throughput sequencing, etc., and will participate in the analysis of sequencing data.
- Analyze R-loops in cells using microscopy techniques (immunofluorescence).
