Offer Description
Thousands of graffiti, both inscriptions and drawings, have
been left on the walls, columns and jambs of the Ducal
Palace of Urbino over the centuries. These writings and
drawings have been the subject of several studies.
The present research project aims to extend the
long-standing research on the graffiti of the Palazzo Ducale
of Urbino by cataloguing the graffiti according to the criteria
developed in the framework of the ERC “Graff-IT” project,
contributing to the implementation of the “Graff-It Digital
Archive Database”.
The aim is to improve knowledge of the location, chronology,
executive, graphic and thematic variety of Urbino's graffiti,
while at the same time promoting comparative research on
the graffiti phenomenon, also thanks to possible exploratory
research on other cases, especially in the Urbino area.
The research grant entails research activities details as
follows:
Enumeration, reading, and cataloging of the graffiti in the
Ducal Palace of Urbino.
Possible surveys on other cases, particularly in the Urbino
area.
The execution of the research activity requires familiarity
with writings from the 15th to the 20th centuries.
