Offer Description
A position of full Professor is open at Sorbonne University, attached to the STMS laboratory (UMR 9912) at IRCAM in the Musical Representations team, on the theme of "Co-Creativity and cyber-human systems ».
The research will renew strategies and methods in artificial creativity and cyber-human systems including machine learning, symbolic AI, autonomous agents, aiming at fostering cocreative musical interaction between agents and new musical forms of blended reality in live contexts
Applications and supporting documents must be submitted exclusively via the GALAXIE portal until Friday, March 29, 2024 at 4 p.m. (Paris time), accessible via the link below:

The person we are looking for will carry out work that is likely to renew strategies and methods in the field of artificial creativity and cyber-human systems, dealing in particular with mathematical aspects (e.g. representation spaces), individual and collective intelligent interaction strategies (modeling of autonomous musical agents, especially in improvisation: perception, memory, action, reflexivity, motivation) that can evolve towards "symbiotic" interactions and forms of mixed reality.
Particular attention will be paid to the study of new forms of "co-creativity" in cyber-human interaction networks, which appear as emerging processes of joint action, not reducible to the individual production of the agents concerned, according to multiple learning and cross-feedback relationships between the latter, whether natural or artificial. The field explored includes various forms of generative learning, with an interest in interactive models capable of continuous real-time inference when one agent produces a signal as a function of another control signal produced by another agent in a relationship of co-construction of a musical form ("what to play"); models enabling learning of interaction strategies in direct exchange with humans, notably reinforcement learning ("when to play / how to play"); "social" AI,social" AI, accounting for the emergence of collective dynamics in the context of multiplayer games ("who to play with").
The hiring is at the full professor level. The candidate must have a position equivalent to professor, senior resesearcher ,or show equivalent research achievements.
