Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will mainly be employed in teaching in the Korean Studies department. The ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as didactic training during the time when there are no lectures are expected.

The focus of our program is on the development of our students to reach a Korean language competency from levels A1 to C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Our Korean Studies Team currently consists of one Senior Lecturer, 2 praedocs and administrative colleagues. What makes us special as a team is our shared teaching concept, active collaboration and a constructive feedback culture. Flexibility, professional training and academic engagement with our own teaching are particularly important to us.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in teaching and administration, which means:

  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. That means an average of 17 semester hours per week for full-time employment.
  • You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching.
  • You coordinate a team of teachers of a specific course or module.
  • You implement quality assurance measures in the area of teaching.
  • You contribute to the continuous development and standardization of the Korean language program.
  • We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as the didactic further training during the lecture-free time.

What we expect:

We are looking for people who see university teaching as an interesting and challenging career field. Requirements for application are:

  • Completed master's or PhD degree in a subject related to teaching Korean (Degree in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, language teaching training with a focus on Korean, or a related subject).
  • Native or near-native fluency of Korean.
  • Several years of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution.
  • Good knowledge of language didactic methods and willingness to improve and innovate.
  • Excellent writing and oral English skills (level C2) as well as good German skills (level B2) are desired.
  • Interest in intercultural and interdisciplinary engagements is expected.
  • You are a team player with high social and communicative skills.
