The Institute of Economic Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences opens new junior and senior research positions

 

The Institute of Economic Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (IER SAS) is looking for researchers with a solid publication record in the field of economic research. Researchers at all career stages are invited to apply (including Ph.D. students before graduation).

Publication records are going to be assessed with respect to the career stage. The profile of the candidates will also be assessed comprehensively, based on the quality of their outputs, so that they fit both personally and thematically into the portfolio of activities of the Institute.

The research topics of interest include:

  • Determining shifts in the external environment – a global framework for the development of the European and (open) Slovak economy;
  • Structural changes in the national economy and regions of the Slovak Republic;
  • Ageing - human capital, labour market and social development;
  • Macrofinancial imbalances.

 

Job tasks:

  • conducting research independently within her/his research focus;
  • organising and leading research projects and teams within her/his research area;
  • active contribution to the self-governing life of the Institute (teaching or supervising Ph.D. students, active participation in the self-governing bodies and the academic   discussion).

What do we require:

  • knowledge of the English language;
  • at least a basic overview of econometric research methods;
  • operational command of at least one statistical software used in economic research (R, Matlab, Stata or Eviews);
  • experience with regression modelling or input-output model is an advantage.

  • flexible working hours with the possibility of combining with remote work (partially remote, some attendance required);

Remuneration:

  • fixed salary according to the current criteria for remuneration of scientists in Slovakia, taking into account qualifications and years of experience (indicative basic salary from EUR 1 200 to 2 200 EUR per month gross);
  • a variable salary component depending on the quality and intensity of publication    activity and involvement in project activities.
