Description:

The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, seeks to fill a position of a Visiting Professor for four months (October 1, 2024 - January 31, 2025). The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff.

Your tasks:

You actively participate in teaching, research & administration, which means:

  • You serve to cover a vacancy in the area of Comparative Politics with a focus on Eastern and Southeastern European studies.
  • You hold courses at Bachelor's and Master’s levels independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • The teaching load is four courses (eight semester hours) per week.

Your Profile:

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in political science
  • Several years teaching experience at university level
  • Excellent educational and didactic skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Good command of German is an advantage
  • University level teaching experience in the field of comparative politics or political economy with a focus on Eastern and Southeastern Europe
  • Willingness and ability to advise BA and MA and doctoral students on their theses.
  • Willingness to work in a team
  • Excellent publication record in comparative politics or political economy with a focus on Eastern Europe is an advantage
  • Habilitation or equivalent is desirable
