The Institute 

 

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies. 

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role  

 

We are looking for a motivated candidate to join to the CRG Strategy and Funding (SaF) department to cover a period of paternity leave. He/She will be working closely with the wider team, the faculty and the other departments involved in grant management to ensure suitable support throughout the stages of grant proposal preparation process and award arrangements. Therefore, he/she will be a point of contact for general and technical enquiries, for producing key information and documentation related to calls for proposals and for channelling the communication among different stakeholders within and outside the centre. 

 

The extent of the duties will include but are not limited to:  

 

  • Assisting the faculty and the grants specialists team in preparing competitive applications for research and innovation projects (administrative support, budgeting, grant proposal documentation and submission through funders' portal) 

  • Identifying and disseminating funding opportunities and funders’ updates and news 

  • Monitoring notices of funders, carrying out the grant review during the award acceptance process and assisting with the preparation of the necessary arrangements with all involved stakeholders 

  • Supporting the team members in the clearance process of internal and external requirements, in view of the start of projects 

  • Updating internal trackers and preparing internal summaries and reports, as needed 

 

Professional experience 

 

Must Have 

  • Previous experience of 1-2 years in the areas related to the vacancy 

 

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have 

  • You have previous experience in a life-science environment 

  • You have knowledge of public and private research funding systems (Spanish and European) and experience in preparing and assembling proposals to competitive calls of Spanish and Catalan public and/or private funders 

  

Education and training 

  • You hold a university degree (preferably). 

  

Languages 

  • You are fluent in Spanish and have a good command of English 

  • Knowledge of Catalan would be a plus 

 

Technical skills 

  • You are an advanced user of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Power Point) 

  • Familiarity with other relevant project and data management tools will be a plus

  • Communications: Ability to interact with a diverse audience, also in written

The Offer – Working Conditions 

  • Contract duration: temporary contract to cover paternity leave and holidays (estimated until 12/2024) 

  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with the qualifications of the candidates and the senior profile of the position and is consistent with our pay scales 

  • Target start date: As soon as possible

Selection Process  

  • Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidates CVS. It will be merit-based. 

  • Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and a selection panel if required. 

  • Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is identified the People department will send a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary, working conditions, among other important details.
