Offer Description
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering.
Energy Optimisation Solution (EPSILON) is a project funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Manufacturing.
The project focuses on developing a data-driven solution to predict manufacturing energy consumption and renewable energy yields accurately. With energy being a critical resource for competitiveness, the project addresses the challenges posed by global energy crises and high costs, emphasizing the need for proactive energy management. By leveraging predictions and dynamic pricing, the solution guides organizations to optimize operations, reduce costs, maximize renewable energy usage, and minimize downtime risks associated with grid dependency. Additionally, the project facilitates reporting on CO2 savings, contributing to sustainability efforts.
The role will involve traveling to the industry partners to observe their processes and collect data. The research assistant is also expected to conduct literature review and support the development of a scientific research article.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
Salary Range:€30,025 - €39,908 per annum (Pro Rata @ 0.5FTE if Part Time)
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
