Job description:

Your area of responsibility essentially comprises

  • Participation in the operation of the tritium loops and the relevant analytics within the measurement phases of the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Mass Experiment KATRIN
  • Determination of the systematic errors in the source area, in particular the errors of the gas composition within the source
  • Conducting test experiments on an atomic hydrogen source to develop analytics for the characterisation of a hydrogen or tritium atomic beam
  • Determination of the atomic fraction as well as the beam geometry and beam kinetics
  • Development and characterisation of beam cooling (< 80 K) for an atomic tritium source
  • Implementation of beam analysis and beam cooling in the Atomic Tritium Source experiment currently under construction
  • Analysing the data, processing, publishing and presenting the results.
