Offer Description

Teaching assistance in the field of international dispute resolution in particular 1. private international law, and 2. arbitration law. The successful candidates will assist Prof. Geert Van Calster in the tutorials private international law at Hasselt University; supervising seminar papers and master papers in the field of private international law; and assistance with the classes as well as marking of the exams for arbitration law. The portfolio of 55% will ideally be taken up by one candidate who with professor Van Calster will attempt to obtain full-time research funding e.g. via FWO. Depending on the Institute's assistance requirements and candidates' backgrounds, the 55% may be divided in slices of 5%.

Benefits

Teaching assistant for 1 year, renewable. 
Candidates will be assisted in locating research funding for a full-time research position.
Salary according to scale 43.

Eligibility criteria
  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a keen interest (and if possible demonstrable expertise) in the field of international dispute resolution.
  • Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate an interest in and knowledge of private international law and an interest in or knowledge of arbitration law.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, ideally also knowledge of Dutch.
