Offer Description

The Digital Industry (DI) Center, one of the Centers of the Bruno Kessler Foundation, focuses

its research on digital technologies for the manufacturing industry by creating applications for

critical systems, adaptive and autonomous systems, advanced perception, diagnostics and

prediction systems. The research in the DI Centre also involves fields related to digital

agriculture, cultural heritage and geomatics.

The Technologies of Vision (TeV) Research Unit conducts research in the field of Computer

Vision, Image Analysis and Machine Learning. TeV’s focus is on the development of image and

scene understanding techniques for Monitoring and Video Analytics, Semantic Annotation and

Retrieval, Machine vision, Geometric deep learning, Object segmentation and classification,

Event and action recognition, Computer vision for extended reality. Some specific research

applications include scene understanding and human activity recognition for robot-human

Job Description

The successful candidate is expected to conduct research activities in the area of visual scene

understanding, primarily on object detection and segmentation, vision-language foundation

models, object tracking, 3D data processing. Following the recent evolution in the field, the

research will focus on applying image/video based deep learning techniques to challenging

practical automatic recognition problems. The successful candidate will be involved in both

industrial and European projects, which include Fortis, AI-MATTERS, and AgrifoodTEF.

 

Job requirements

● Master in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields (the degrees

must be obtained by the start date of the FBK contract);

● Solid skills in deep learning for computer vision

● Experience (at least 1 year) in computer vision and deep learning;

● Ability to work and deliver in funded research projects;

● Knowledge of GNU-Linux operating systems, Python and C/C++ programming

languages, and PyTorch environment for deep learning applications;

● Oral and written proficiency in English;

● Self-driven character and ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong

commitment to achieve assigned objectives and to realize practical applications;

● teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills;

● Problem solving.

 

Employment

Type of contract: fixed-term contract

Working hours: full-time (38 hours per week)

Start date: preferably May 2024

Duration: 12 months (with possibility to extend the contract depending on funding)

Gross annual salary: about € 36.200

Workplace: Povo, Trento (Italy)
