Requirements:

  1. PhD in archaeology (defended at a university other than the University of Warsaw).
  2. Scientific achievements in the field of Mediterranean archaeology with special emphasis on Egypt.
  3. Documented experience in archaeological field work.
  4. Knowledge of archaeological documentation methods, with particular emphasis on orthophotography.
  5. Experience in working with databases, inventories and catalogues of archaeological finds.

 

Specific Requirements

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Participation in archaeological research in the successive seasons (2024, 2025,and 2026), supervision of work in the Byzantine baths, preparation and development of documentation.
  • Preparation of archaeological reports for particular seasons.
  • Administration of the database of objects found during excavations.
  • Contributing and co-editing of a monograph on water management in ‘Marea’/Philoxenite
  • Participation in conferences and scientific seminars in Poland and abroad, publishing reports and scientific articles on topics related to the research carried out as part of the project.
  • Administering profiles of the Marea Archaeological Project on social media, preparing materials for the project’s website.

Eligibility criteria

Required documents:

  1. Application addressed to the Rector of the University of Warsaw;
  2. A copy of PhD diploma or certificate from the relevant unit confirming the award of doctor's degree;  
  3. Scientific Curriculum Vitae;
  4. Publication record submitted together with PDF copies of five most important publications;
  5. A personal questionnaire (bsp.adm.uw.edu.pl/bsp/druki-i-formularze);
  6. 1 photograph.
  7. Candidate's declaration confirming that he/she has read and accepted the rules

    for conducting competitions for the position of an academic teacher.
  8. Information on the processing of personal data including a consent clause.
Selection process

Applications will be considered by the Recruitment Committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw. The Commission may invitate selected candidates for appointment.

The decision announcement: 30th of May 2024

Candidates will be informed by the Competition's Committee in three days after the announcement. They will receive an e-mail and an official letter.

The selection is the first stage of the recruitment procedure for the position of an academic teacher specified in the University of Warsaw Statute and its positive outcome is the basis for further procedure.
