Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellows at Urban Systems Institute, the University of Hong Kong (HKU-USI) (Ref. 526088), to commence on June 1, 2024 or the earliest feasible time for a period of 24 months, with the possibility of renewal.
HKU-USI is a multidisciplinary research institution aiming to explore multiple possible pathways of theorizing the evolving forms and norms of cities and their inherent problems, drawing from urban, geospatial, social, behavioural, economic, environmental, social physics, ecological theories, and developing new urban systems models through interdisciplinary approaches and facilitated by the advances in data science, GIS methods, urban sensing and robotics. USI researchers also endeavour to link urban theorization and multi-scale urban systems models with professional, industrial and policy innovation. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in one of the following fields: Environmental Science, Environmental Governance, Computational Social Sciences, Urban Studies/Planning, Urban Analytics, Human Geography, Public Health or other related fields, and a strong research track record. They should also have skills in both qualitative and quantitative research; excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Preference will be given to those with skills in big data analytics, spatial modelling, econometrics, and proficiency in both English and Chinese.
The appointee will work on topics related to Climate Change and Environmental Governance, Urban Complex Systems, Healthy Cities, and Socio-spatial Inequalities at the Urban Systems Institute, the University of Hong Kong (HKU-USI).
