YOUR TASKS
- IPI is looking for a qualified and motivated senior researcher to work on computer vision topics including sensor fusion and active vision, supervise junior researchers, and help attract new projects.
- There is room for both fundamental theoretical research, where the emphasis is mainly on new techniques, and application-oriented research, where the emphasis is mainly on results and practical applicability.
- You will collaborate with international industrial partners while embedded in a university research team that is internationally recognized for its extensive expertise regarding sensor fusion for autonomous driving, traffic monitoring and industrial safety.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate (in e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar) with demonstrated first-class performance.
- You should demonstrate experience in at least one specialization from the following areas:
- A strong background knowledge of the fundamental theory underlying sensor fusion, computer vision, or related topics (including the mathematical and probability theory related aspects) – as evidenced through publications or other research achievements - is important
- Sensor fusion: camera networks and merging data from multiple sensors (sensor fusion of RGB cameras, thermal cameras, radar, etc.) for improved object detection and classification, motion tracking models, and depth sensing
- Algorithms and sensors on embedded systems, embedded AI
- Other requirements:
- Programming skills (Python, C++, etc)
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Experience with original algorithm design that goes beyond the mere application of methods from literature is important.
- You have the capability and mindset to flexibly adapt your research to new application challenges and are eager to learn about new topics. You have a strong vision to propose novel solutions to such challenges as well as the technical skills to develop and implement them.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of indefinite duration with 100% employment.
- Your contract will start on 15/04/2024 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
- All Ghent University staff members enjoy a number of benefits, such as a wide range of training and education opportunities, 36 days of holiday leave (on an annual basis for a full-time job) supplemented by annual fixed bridge days, a bicycle allowance and eco vouchers.
