Offer Description
At the Lisbon School of Architecture of Universidade de Lisboa (FA.ULisboa), there is an open call for the award of 1 (one) Research scholarship for a PhD Student, financed exclusively by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, IP (FCT, IP)/MCTES, within the scope of the multiannual funding of R&D Units with Ref:ª UIDB/04008/2020, to develop activities in the research group formaurbis LAB of the Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD).
The grant is scheduled to start in April/May, 2024. The contract, with a duration of 3 (three) months, on an exclusive basis, possibly renewable for an additional period of (one) month.
The main aim of the research grant is to support the activities of the formaurbis LAB research group, in particular the embryo project which aims to study the city of Santarém based on the proposals - studies, plans and projects - developed by the architect João António Aguiar.
The technical-scientific content produced, the documentation collected on the city and the urban planning studies developed by the architect João Aguiar will be studied, catalogued, organized and digitized. At the end of the scholarship, the candidate should have acquired skills in systematizing data and information, producing research and preparing scientific publications.
The grant is intended for the following activities:
a) Inventorying all the plans and projects carried out by the architect João Aguiar for the city of Santarém;
b) Research and collection of documentation in libraries and archives, or other information resources on the city and the author under study;
c) Drawing up a cartography of the city of Santarém;
d) Developing activities to support the dissemination of research: a book with a synthesis of the project and an article for an indexed journal.

- Master's degree in Architecture, in the specialization area of Urbanism, average of the design studio curricular units equal to or greater than 15 points;
- Enrollment in the PhD in Urbanism, in the 2023/2024 academic year;
- Proven knowledge in the areas of contemporary Architecture and Urbanism and Urban Morphology;
- Practice in using the following computer programs: Adobe Photoshop; AutoCad; Word; Excel and Powerpoint;
- Experience of participating in research projects.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficiency in written and oral English;
- Research experience and knowledge of the city of Santarém.

Additional Information
Amount of monthly maintenance allowance and Social Security:
1 - The value of the monthly maintenance allowance corresponds to € 1.259,64 (one thousand two hundred and fifty-nine euros and sixty-four cents), paid monthly by bank transfer, under the terms of the FCT Research Grant Regulation, IP, published through the Regulation no. 950/2019 in the Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 241, of 16 December, and available at the link:

2 - The grant holder to be hired may exercise his right to social security, by joining the voluntary social insurance regime, under the terms set out in the Research Grant Holder Statute, with the funding entities assuming the costs resulting from the contributions provided for in that Statute.

The selection methods will include a Curricular Evaluation (CE) and, if the Jury considers it necessary, a Selection Interview (SI).
If the jury decides to carry out the selection interview, only the three best classified in the CE will be interviewed. In this case, the final evaluation of the candidates will have the following weighting: 60% CE + 40% SI.
