Research Grant for a student of a course that does not award an academic degree - (BL24/2024-IST-ID)

Admission Requirements: a) hold a master degree and be enrolled (at the moment of grant contract signing) at a course that does not award an academic degree and is integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, performed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units; b) not to exceed with this contract, including the possible renovations, an accumulated period of two years in this type of grant, continuously or with interruptions.

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is 1,259.64 €, being the payment method (by wire transfer or cheque) an option of the Research Fellow. The grant holder will be reimbursed of the payment of Voluntary Social Security (up to the amount corresponding to the 1st grade).

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following:

1. Curriculum evaluation, worth 70%, of which:

• 40% will be attributed to the classification obtained in the degree (score from 1 to 20);
• 10% will be attributed to familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment and/or the agricultural sector (score from 1 to 20);
• 10% will be attributed to familiarity with soil carbon sequestration;
• 10% will be attributed to familiarity with the climate models of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

1. A possible individual interview (in the event of a tie between the first two or more candidates), valued at 30% (score from 1 to 20).

If there are no candidates with a score of more than 60 per cent in criterion 1, no candidate will be selected.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by e-mail.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification

Workplace: The work will be developed at MARETEC - Marine, Environment and Technology Centre of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), under the scientific supervision of Researcher Ricardo Teixeira.
