Offer Description

TRACE (Integration and Harmonization of Logistics Operations; https://trace-horizon.eu/; June 2023 - May 2026) is an Innovation Action funded by the European CINEA under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme.  The Dynamic Systems and Simulation Laboratory at the Technical University of Crete (Greece), one of the technical partners for this project, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified postdoctoral researcher, starting June 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and industry partners to develop innovative solutions for the integration and optimization of logistics operations. Skills/Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant field such as logistics, transportation, operations research, artificial intelligence, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong research background and demonstrated expertise in logistics operations, synchromodal operations, intelligent transportation systems, or multiagent optimization.
  • Proficiency in quantitative research methods and data analysis.
  • Experience in developing and implementing optimization models and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in logistics research.
  • Prior experience in European research projects or collaborations.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English.
  • Experience in dissemination of research results in scientific journals and conferences.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and guide younger researchers.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of blockchain technology and its application in logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in the logistics industry, such as autonomous vehicles, Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Knowledge of climate-friendly logistics practices and sustainability considerations.
  • Experience in conducting field experiments or real-world demonstrations.

Additional comments

Duration of contract: 12 months (with an option for extension up to the end of the project).

Occupation: Carrying out research as specified in the Description of the Action (DoA).

Starting gross salary: 2500 - 3000 €/month depending on qualifications and experience. A salary increase of up to 10% per year for the following years will be based on performance.
