Job description
- You examine to what extent business practices in different domains and environments of the food environment target lower socioeconomic populations and whether there are differences between European countries.
- You identify systemic causes of food-related inequalities from a citizen's perspective in the Belgian context.
- You map policies at the city level to identify gaps in policy implementation to address food-related inequalities in selected Belgian cities.
- You contribute to the dissemination of your findings, including to scientific papers and policy briefs.
- You obtain a PhD degree linked to this topic.
Job profile
- You hold a Master’s degree (preferably) in any discipline underpinning a multidisciplinary understanding of population diets, such as bioscience engineering, food sciences, human nutrition, agricultural economics, health promotion, Movement sciences (minor nutrition) etc.
- Strong interest in policy.
- Motivated to pursue a PhD.
- Proficient in English; good knowledge of both (recommended) or at least one of the national languages (Dutch or French).
- Able to carry out both quantitative and qualitative research, such as interviews and focus groups.
- Interest or Proficient (preferably) in statistical analyses (using R, SAS, STATA).
- Interest and social skills to work in an interdisciplinary context with stakeholders from across Europe.
