Offer Description

Area of research:

Scientific / postdoctoral posts

Starting date:

08.03.2024

Job description:

The Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC) is a central scientific institution of KIT in connection with tasks in research, teaching, and innovation and performs overarching services within KIT and for external parties.

The „Uncertainty Quantification“ (UQ) group develops new algorithms for UQ of compute intensive simulation models. In cooperation with colleagues from LMU and TUM Munich, we apply them on supercomputers in order to enable new insights about earthquakes. We are looking for a motivated person who will join the project for the year 2024 in full time.

You will contribute to the development of new UQ algorithms as well as their prototypical implementation. Using a new software platform we are developing, such prototypes already suffice in order to apply the algorithms on supercomputers. In collaboration with project partners, you will support applications in geophysics, as well as contributing to publications of the results in scientific journals.

This research center is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. With more than 42,000 employees and an annual budget of over € 5 billion, the Helmholtz Association is Germany's largest scientific organisation.
