Offer Description
You will perform original research using theoretical and numerical tools, working within a group at University of Crete. Close interaction is expected with other nodes of the doctoral network TOPOCOM, including experimental and industrial, and with doctoral students of the network. Expected is also the participation in training events, workshops, and conferences, and secondments to different universities and industrial partners of the network. You will work to (i) Construct models for ferromagnets and ferroelectrics that describe local variations of the modulus of the vector order parameter (ii) Identify a series of skyrmionic textures (iii) Develop a unified theory for the dynamics of magnetic and electric skyrmionic textures and link it with their topological features (iv) Exploit theoretical results for computing applications.

Additional Information
Contract duration: 36 months,Total Remuneration cost: 2.759,34 euros/month (salary ,social security contribution and other costs), Family allowance, 404,78 euros/month (where applicable), Travel and training funding.
MSc in Natural Sciences (YES/NO), MSc in Physics or Applied Mathematics (15 points), Knowledge or experience in advanced methods of Theoretical Physics (5 points for each certificate, up to 30 points), Experience in programming (5 points for each code, up to 10 points), Recommendation Letters (5 points for each positive letter, up to 15 points). Candidates who meet at least the required qualifications will be invited to an interview (30 points) which will take place on the next working day after the deadline. The interview will assess (a) the reasons why the candidate chose to apply for the specific position in UoC within the TOPOCOM network, (b) his/her knowledge background, (c) the candidate’s ability to work with the local group, (d) his/her ability and willingness to work with the TOPOCOM network, (e) his/her ability to communicate on science with peers and with students, (f) the breadth of his/her scientific knowledge especially on natural sciences.
