Advertisement to hire a PhD holder– Ref. PRRVF-WP8_Mar_2024

General requirements

Any national, foreigner and stateless candidate(s) holding a PhD degree in Biotechnology, Engineering and Technology Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Engineering, and other relevant areas.

1. Scientific maturity demonstrated in the form of publications in peer-reviewed journals (reporting original work in the areas described above);
2. Experience in the supervision of bachelor's and/or master’s students;
3. Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
4. Excellent interpersonal skills;
5. Fluency in English (oral and written).

Specific requirements

Research experience in one or more of the following areas:

1. Animal cell culture techniques, including the development of 3D cell models and co-cultures;
2. Bioactivity evaluation of natural bioactive compounds: antioxidant, antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory assays (enzymatic and cell-based assays);
3. Anti-hyperglycemic activity assays, including enzymatic methods and cellular-based assays (analysis of glucose transporters);
4. Bioaccessibility studies (in vitro digestion methods) and permeability experiments (intestinal cells) for natural bioactive compounds;
5.  Molecular biology techniques, such as Western Blotting, PCR and imunofluorescence assays;
6. Human intervention studies with food and food supplements.

Contract and category:

The recruitment is carried out by means of a work contract under the terms of the Portuguese Labour Code, for individuals holding a Doctoral Degree, corresponding to Level 33 of the single remuneration table (TRU), in accordance with Decree-Law no. 11-A /2017, of December 29.

Selection: The selection method includes curriculum evaluation (90%), in agreement with the requirements stated in the present announcement, and interview of the candidates (10%), if more than one candidate.
