The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

The candidate is required to

  1. Hold a doctoral degree in the humanities specializing in linguistics.
  2. Demonstrate confirmed scientific achievements in the field of translation studies, especially in the field of specialized translation and business linguistics: the English language.
  3. Have fluent knowledge of the English language both in speaking and in writing to secure teaching at the C2 level (CEFR).
  4. Have precise plans for academic development in the field of translation studies.
  5. Demonstrate professional experience in the teaching of translation studies (theoretical and practical courses), specialized translation, and business linguistics, and willingness to teach in all these areas, including the B.A and M.A. seminars.
  6. Possessing an adequate knowledge of Polish in order to be able to communicate with University staff members and administration.
  7. The search committee will also consider the following additional criteria related to the scientific profile of the Department of Translation, as well as the teaching needs of the Institute of English Studies: Familiarity with CAT tools and CAT tool teaching skills and experience in the construction and optimization of language study programs (i.e. undergraduate or postgraduate studies); active participation and experience in organizational activity: conference and workshop.

Responsibilities

  1. Conducting classes and administrative work related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process in the scope and dimension envisaged for the position of assistant professor in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.
  2. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process indicated by the Director of the Institute of English Studies or the head of the Department of Translation, in particular: acting as a tutor of student groups, acting as a member of the admissions committees and diploma examinations, participating in the organization of exams, etc.
  3. Conducting research in the discipline of linguistics, including applying for internal, national and international grants, in accordance with criteria established by the relevant Discipline Council.
  4. Publication of scientific research results with the "University of Wrocław" affiliation and their reliable documentation through the Library of the Institute of English Studies.
  5. Active participation in scientific and editorial activities of the Institute and Section and their organization (department meetings, scientific conferences at home and abroad, editorial work for publications created at the Institute of English Studies).
  6. Observing the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific and creative activity.
