Offer Description
Mission:
Develop a conceptual and predictive model that relates (bi-directionally) the physical and biological variables of Fangar Bay with concepts related to hydrodynamics and water quality.
Functions to be developed:
- Carry out the meteo-hydrodynamic characterization of the bay based on observations and field campaigns.
- Implement, calibrate and validate numerical models that solve hydrodynamics and biology in a coupled way.
- Execute, calibrate and check the dispersion models of substances that allow to analyze concepts such as residence time and diffusion.

Technical Competencies:
- Large databases: data processing in different formats such as ASCII and in scientific formats such as NetCDF and HDF5.
- Oceanic models: ROMS Model (Regional Oceanic Modeling System) and the NPZD biological model.
- Three-dimensional coupled modeling systems: COAWST model (Coupled-Ocean-Atmosphere-Wave-Sediment Transport).
- Computational fluid dynamics software: OpenFoam software.
- Programming: MatLab, Python and Fortran.
Organizational Skills:
- Work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Independent work
- Writing of scientific documentation.
Functional Competencies:
- Communication skills.
Educational requirements:
- Physical oceanography.
- Coastal dynamics.
- Implementation of models in coastal areas (shallow and with strong influence of coastal dynamics).
- It will be assessed:
- The Doctor's degree will be valued.
Professional experience:
- In works on biological and hydrodynamic processes in coastal areas (estuaries, bays, fjords and continental shelf).
- In the application of the ROMS and NPZD model in the marine environment for more than 4 years.
- In the analysis of high-quality oceanographic data, evaluate and validate results.
- In public or private R + D + I centers or Spanish or foreign universities.
- Experience in functions similar to those described, specifically in the development of research activities, both in the university and industrial environment, will be valued.

Additional Information
€36,100.42 gross/year (per full-time)
All the candidates who cannot prove the required academic degree will be immediately withdrawn from the selection process.
The CVs will be assessed according the following general criteria:
- The maximum score for the candidates who accomplish all the eligibility criteria stated in the job offer will be 10 points.
- Threshold: 5 points.
- The maximum score (10 points) will be distributed as follows:
- 1 point for required speciality.
- 2 points for required academic training.
- 2 points for technic competences.
- 1 point for organisational competences.
- 3 points for professional experience.
- 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as specially relevant by the Selection committee.
If the selection committee decide to include a personal interview as additional step of the selection process, only the candidates scored 5 or above for their CV will be retained for the interview step.
The interview will be assessed according the following criteria:
- Maximum scoring: 5 points.
- Threshold: 3 points.
- The maximum score will be distributed according the following criteria:
- 2 points for adequacy to functional competences of the job.
- 2 points for adequacy of professional experience.
- 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as especially relevant by the Selection committee.
