Offer Description

The University of Vienna is looking to attract postdoc researchers with outstanding potential from around the world who would like to enhance their career opportunities and carry out cutting-edge research projects at the University through a prestigious fellowship funded by the European Commission.

We therefore invite Expressions of Interest (EoI) from excellent researchers who would like to submit a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) application with the University of Vienna as host institution, and wish to become an active part of our stimulating research environment and city. Through the EoI, potential fellows will identify a supervisor who can guide them in the next stage of their research career and take advantage of the support services offered at the University to help them prepare a successful proposal.

EoIs are open to all research areas, and the University of Vienna has provided a list of supervisors who have already expressed interest in hosting MSCA fellows. We recommend that you check the list to identify potential supervisors in your research area that you would like to work with. Otherwise, you can identify other researchers through the University of Vienna website.

The Research Services Department will offer support and guidance to the applicants who are accepted by the supervisors and work with them to complete a full application (deadline 11 September 2024).

In addition, the 10 top-ranked MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowships awarded to the University (based on the score given by the European Commission) will receive an additional third year of salary, allowing the fellow and supervisor to carry out additional research, publication, training or grant writing. As this third year is funded separately by the University, the activities should be related to, but distinct from what will be carried out during the first two years of the project.

The University and Research Services Department have extensive experience with MSCA Fellowships as we host the highest number of Fellows in Austria, and have achieved success rates higher than the EU average. Successful applicants will receive support from the Research Services Department during proposal preparation including guidance documents, personalised feedback and in-depth proposal checks.
