Offer Description
The candidate will use radiomics and deep and/or machine learning to develop a stratification tool based on biological and radiological MRI imaging features. The aim is to develop a stratification tool that can be implemented later on in the clinical radiotherapy workflow of head and neck cancer patients. The research is in close collaboration with the Department of Radiation-Oncology and Department of Radiology from the University Hospitals Leuven. The research is part of the ‘Head and Neck Cancer Radiogenomics project’ funded by ‘Kom op tegen Kanker’, which brings scientists from complementary disciplines together in the field of head and neck oncology.

You hold a Diploma of Master in Bioscience Engineering, Bio-informatics, Master in Engineering, or a related field of studyYou have basic knowledge of quantitative modeling and data mining ( e.g. knowledge of SQL queries and VBA) and are capable of managing and using large datasetsYou have solid experience in one or several programming languages and basic statistics e.g., Matlab, Python, R or equivalentYou are highly motivated to work in an interdisciplinary translational project with clinical relevance, and are passionate about developing clinical tools that may help future patientsYou are a creative and enthusiastic team player but can also work independently; you have a hands-on mentality and analytical mindsetKnowledge of molecular biology and radiology/imaging is an assetYou have excellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishOral and written skills in Dutch are considered a plus
