Offer Description

Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre Limited (“ABIC”) is collaborative effort coordinated by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) undertaking R&D projects at the Hong Kong Science Park. The aim of the Centre is to develop new and disruptive biomedical instrumentation that will meet the growing needs in medicine and contribute sustainably to human health. Applications are invited for appointment as a Senior Scientist (Ref.: H01/2024/022) for an innovative research project to develop a novel system including instruments, consumable chips, reagents, and software for IVD based at the Hong Kong Science park.

Job Description

  • As the leader of reagent development for the project, drive the R&D activities with defined goals and timeline, identify and resolve experimental issues based on professional knowledge and literature research.
  • As the leader of the reagent development team for this project, mentor the progress of the team.
  • Collaborate with the bioinformatics team to interpret experimental results and validate experimental design.
  • Work closely with other teams, including such as instrumentation, production, quality, and marketing to achieve product translation.
  • Complete other tasks as required by the team.

Skills and Requirements

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, immunology, clinical, or a related field.
  • A solid background in molecular biology and experimental skills are required.
  • A strong track record in the field of reagent product development is a plus.
  • Candidates with experience in droplet microfluidics, digital PCR, next-gen sequencing, qPCR reagent development are preferred.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, as well as strong teamwork abilities.
