Offer Description
A post-doctoral position is available for the project "Translational Investigation in Cardio-metabolic Diseases: Pre-clinical and Clinical Studies of the Cardioprotective Mechanisms of Antidiabetics," funded by FAPESP and based at the Heart Institute (InCor-HC-FMUSP).
The selected researcher will investigate the direct and indirect cardioprotective mechanisms of SGLT2 inhibitors. Experiments will be carried out in primary cultures of cardiomyocytes exposed to high glucose concentrations and with human cardiomyocytes derived from induced pluripotent stem cells exposed to the serum of diabetic patients with coronary artery disease before and after treatment with empagliflozin.
Candidates with experience in cell culture, intracellular Ca2+ measurements, and a foundational understanding of cardiac electrocardiology are preferred.
The fellowship duration is 24 months, and candidates will be evaluated based on a letter of interest, two letters of recommendation (including one from the doctoral advisor), and a curriculum vitae following the FAPESP model.
This opportunity is open to both Brazilians and foreigners. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral Fellowship of R$ 9,047.40 per month, along with a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual fellowship amount to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to research activities.
