Required Qualifications
- PhD degree in agricultural/biological sciences or related discipline, obtained not earlier than 7 years prior to employment at IPG PAS,
- documented experience in conducting research in microbiology, mycology or molecular biology,
- experience in either molecular diagnostics of fungi and bacteria (4+ years) or next generation sequencing, deriving and maintaining cultures,
- preferred: additional experience in fungal genomics (in vitro or in silico) focused on secondary metabolite biosynthesis
- active participation in scientific life in the form of giving lectures and presentations at scientific conferences, supervising junior researchers or participating in research projects,
- documented experience in preparation of manuscripts for the international scientific journals.
Main Responsibilities
- environmental sampling,
- culturing of fungal isolates from environmental samples,
- eDNA extraction, purification and quality control,
- design and optimisation of in vitro enrichment protocol,
- annotation of biosynthetic gene and cluster subsequences,
- supervision of a younger coinvestigator within the project during experimental parts of the project,
- drafting and editing manuscripts on research results.

Criteria for evaluating candidates to be hired as postdoctoral fellows:
- Match of the candidate's experience and skills with the proposed area of study
- Creativity as measured by:
- Quality and number of publications in which the candidate is first author or corresponding author, number of citations of the candidate's work (Web of Science Core Collection) and Hirsch Index;
- Number of patents/patent applications and/or implementations (if applicable);
- Quality and number of research projects and development work led (if applicable).
- Mobility in their scientific career, including completed scientific internships, change of scientific profile, internships and work in industry.
Announcement of results: As soon as posssible after the deadline.
