Offer Description
What iMM seeks: At this moment, iMM is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Cell Architecture Laboratory, under the research project “Defining the role of Arp2/3 complex diversity at multiple scales of biology”,with the Reference ERC-2018-SyG – ArpComplexity – GA 810207, funded by European Commission, to execute the following activities under the supervision of Edgar Gomes:
- Understand the role of Arp 2/3 isoforms on the development and regeneration of skeletal muscle fibers;
- Identify mechanisms involving the regulation of the cytoskeleton and membrane interactions.

Profile of Candidate
- PhD degree in Biological or Computer Sciences;
- Required to be proficient in python or java;
- Preferred but not required knowledge in common data and image analysis python libraries such as numpy, pandas, scikit-image and scipy;
- Preferred but not required knowledge on ImageJ macro programming;
- Preferred but not required to have previous experience working in life sciences;
- Preferred but not required to know deep learning image analysis methods;
- Ability to work collaboratively with life sciences researchers;
- Good managing and communication skills;
- Forward thinking, can-do, pro-active attitude;
- The international experience of the candidates, although not a determining criterion for selection, will be valued.
Additional Information
What iMM offers: iMM will offer outstanding working conditions in this area in Portugal, including a full-time contract, starting predictably in April 2024, and the possibility to work in the interface of research and research support facilities.
Working Conditions: - Unfix Term employment contract; - Gross monthly salary according to the candidate's experience.

Evaluation Criteria: Applications will be evaluated by Professors Edgar Gomes, Sérgio Dias and Leonor Sáude, in accordance with the following method:
- 1st Phase: Curricular evaluation: 60% and Motivation Letter: 20%;
- 2nd Phase: Interview: 20%.
The jury will select for interview candidates who have the minimum 75% in the first evaluation phase.
Results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be posted at iMM website at https://imm.medicina.ulisboa.pt/jobs/#results and all admitted candidates will be notified by email.
Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel’s final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.
The present call is exclusively aimed at filling the indicated vacancy and may be terminated until the homologation of the final candidates' ranking list and expires with the respective occupation of the position on offer.
