Offer Description
The research group on Multiscale and Stochastic Dynamics (www.multiscale.systems) at the Technical
University of Munich seeks a doctoral researcher (3-year).
Interested candidates should have an interest or background in (at least one) of the following areas:
dynamics, differential equations, networks, numerics, or stochastics
The position is funded within the interdisciplinary BeyondTheEdge project (see description below) with
a duration of up to 36 months. The successful candidate will join the research activities of the Multiscale
and Stochastic Dynamics group at TUM and contribute to the development of the BeyondTheEdge project
with a focus on dynamics of adaptive higher-order networks. The salary scale is an EU-ITN contract, i.e.,
a standard doctoral position. The project is carried out in collaboration with several groups within the
BeyondTheEdge Project Team located across Europe. The position will be based in Munich. There is a
mobility requirement: You must not have resided or carried out your main activity (e.g. work, studies)
in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.
This position part of the project BeyondTheEdge; more information and eligibility criteria can be found
on the project website BeyondTheEdge.network (http://BeyondTheEdge.network).
About the BeyondTheEdge project: The project will identify the role of nonpairwise higher-order interac-
tions in the emergence of complex dynamical behaviour of networks of interacting units. BeyondTheEdge
brings together key researchers in an international network that is interdisciplinary. BeyondTheEdge will
train a cohort of 10 PhD students through research, education, and complementary skills training. This
will enable the PhD students to innovate, collaborate, and become leading professionals. [This project
has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under
grant agreement No Grant Agreement No. 101120085].
