Offer Description
The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a world-leading internationally oriented research center, committed to discovering new approaches to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases. To this end, researchers at ten DZNE sites across Germany pursue a translational and interdisciplinary strategy comprising five interconnected areas: fundamental research, clinical research, health care research, population health science, and systems medicine. www.dzne.de
The DZNE in Bonn is looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) – Code 1289/2024/2
We are seeking an interactive and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a team of cell and molecular biologists working on brain cancer mechanisms led by Prof Paolo Salomoni. Expertise in cancer research, ideally in the area of brain cancer, cell/molecular biology, animal models as well as publication in peer-reviewed journals/international conference proceedings is required. A PhD (postdoctoral experience not essential) in areas highlighted above is essential.
This work will be conducted by Prof Paolo Salomoni whose research interest is nuclear function in regulation of cell fate in normal brain and CNS disease. In particular, this project aims at studying mechanisms underlying brain cancer pathogenesis to drive anti-cancer drug development as part of DLR-funded large Consortium (CANTAR). Specifically, we are interested in exploring how altered chromatin remodelling and metabolism contribute to brain tumorigenesis at the interface between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment. We hope to reveal new tumor vulnerabilities that could be exploited therapeutically. Our work is based on state-of-the art preclinical models developed in-house, patient-derived material and sophisticated platforms for epigenomic and metabolic profiling locally and across the CANTAR Partners.
The successful candidate will be integrated into the neuroscience environment at DZNE and will benefit from interactions with other institutes in Bonn (e.g. LIMES), across CANTAR Partner Institutions and abroad (e.g. University College London). The post is based within the recently opened DZNE Research Facilities at Bonn Venusberg. A strong mentoring programme for career development is provided.
We offer
- An interesting and challenging research structure that works on the future topics of health research
- An international environment characterized by a strong focus on science and research
- A high potential for the individual development of our employees
- Targeted personnel development
- The post initially is available for two years, with the possibility of extension
- Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD Bund).
You will obtain special skills and knowledge for your scientific qualification during your activities at DZNE. The DZNE is an equal opportunity employer. It especially welcomes and encourages disabled individuals to apply.
Interested candidates should send their application including a CV and references via the following link: https://jobs.dzne.de/de/jobs/101294/form
