Applications are invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin:

 

Post: Senior Research Assistant B - PANTOUR Project (Fixed term specified purpose for 5 years with initial funding until June 2026) Reference: 01/2024

 

Location:  Currently located in TU Dublin, Grangegorman, Dublin 7.      

 

Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation.

 

Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the of the Senior Research Assistant B Salary Scale i.e. €37,843 gross per annum.

 

Closing Date: 12th March 2024 at 5.00 p.m. (Irish time). Late applications will not be accepted.

 

It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in week beginning 08th April 2024. The interview assessment will be 40 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 10 minutes duration.  The topic of this presentation will be as follows:

‘Addressing Tourism Skills Needs in Europe – A Solutions-Focused Approach’.

Role Overview

TU Dublin wishes to appoint a Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant to work on the Erasmus+ Funded project Pact for Next Tourism Generation Skills (PANTOUR) project. The project aims to address skills needs in the tourism ecosystem, focusing specifically on digital, green and social skills and will build on the work of the Next Tourism Generation Alliance (NTG) project. The NTG project which was undertaken from 2018 to 2022, developed a Blueprint for Sectoral Skills Development in Tourism in Europe. The PANTOUR project, which began in 2022, has been developing activities, partnerships and resources to implement the Blueprint as a continuation of activities already developed during NTG and aims to design innovative and cooperative solutions to address skills needs. Objectives include: mapping urgent skills needs and new skills and occupational profiles; developing opportunities in the ecosystem by facilitating participation in lifelong learning activities; building strong skills partnerships at national and regional level; developing innovative learning solutions and promoting inclusiveness and access to education; and promoting active citizenship, building equal opportunities and addressing gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness in targeted actions.

The post holder will be required to carry out research including qualitative and quantitative data gathering and analysis and they will also be required to write up the results (as part of a research team).

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

Essential Criteria for a Senior Research Assistant

A Master’s Degree (NQF L9) or equivalent in a relevant discipline

OR

Five years’ post-primary degree relevant research experience in the public or private sector

  • Evidence of ability to gather, analyse and write up qualitative data, quantitative data or both (Essential)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. (Essential)
  • Excellent teamwork skills (Desirable)
