BI/ CIETI-LabRISE/01

Within the scope of the CIETI Research Unit - Center for Innovation in Industrial Engineering and Technology of the Porto Superior Institute of Engineering (ISEP), a competition is open for the award of 1 Research Scholarship for Master's, in the scientific area indicated below, with reference FCT BI/CIETI-LabRISE/01, financed by FCT/MCTES - Foundation for Science and Technology I.P. through national funds, within the scope of the Base Multi-Year Financing of the Unit UIDB/04730/2020, under the following conditions:

1.SCIENTIFIC AREA

Chemistry, Nanotechnology, and Nanoscience, Biosensors, Biomaterials, or related fields

2.ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Master's degree in a field related to the scientific area. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in organic compound synthesis and biosensor development. Minimum of 2 scientific publications in international journals, with at least 1 as the first author.

3.DURATION

The scholarship will have a duration of 6 months, starting on March 1, 2024, and may be renewed according to the objectives for the Unit and its budget, up to the limit established by law, to be carried out on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the regulations for advanced training of human resources of the Foundation for Science and Technology and ISEP

4.OBJECT OF ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN

The R&D Unit CIETI - Center for Innovation in Industrial Engineering and Technology (UIDB/04730/2020) has a set of research lines, including the development of biosensors. This scholarship aims to carry out activities related to the preparation of sensor materials for detecting biomarkers of interest in the biomedical application area. The polymer materials to be developed will be characterized using various instrumental techniques and subsequently integrated into transducers of optical and/or electrical nature.

5.APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS

Statute of the Research Fellow, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of August 18; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of the Diário da República, of December 16, 2019; Regulation of Research Grants of ISEP, Decree-Law No. 66/2018, published in Diário da República No. 157/2018, Series I of August 16, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions; and Decree-Law No. 60/2018, of August 3, which simplifies administrative procedures necessary for the pursuit of research and development activities, all in their current versions.

6.SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION AND WORKPLACE

The scientific supervision of the scholarship holder will be carried out by Dr. Felismina Moreira, and the work will be conducted at the Biosensors and Biomaterials Research Unit (labRISE) of the Center for Innovation in Industrial Engineering and Technology (CIETI) at the Porto Superior Institute of Engineering (ISEP)

7.MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE"

Mensal scholarship amount: €1 259,64 paid by bank transfer (in accordance with the FCT value table: http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt), supported through PAD No. C63004.

8.SELECTION METHODS AND JURY COMPOSITION

A1. Candidate's academic background (field and average of Licentiate/ Master degree);

A2. Experience in research, only if related to the profile described for the candidate (area and time of previous research activity); A score from 1 to 20 will be assigned to each sub-criterion A. The overall score for criterion A will be the average of the values obtained from A1 and A2.

B. Interview

The 3 candidates with the highest score in point A will be invited for an interview, to be scheduled by email, if the difference between the first candidate and the next one(s) is less than 3 points. This interview will be conducted via Skype (or another equivalent mode). The interview is rated from 1 to 20.

C. Final result

100% A for candidates without an interview.

50% A + 50% B, for candidates with an interview.

9.APPLICATION SUBMISSION METHOD

Applications must be formalized exclusively via email sent to ftm@isep.ipp.pt by submitting the following documents:

    Curriculum Vitae;

    Certificate of qualifications / Document proving the possession of the academic degree and diploma, including their recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions or document proving the recognition request;

    Proof of enrollment in study cycles leading to or not leading to an academic degree.

If the qualification was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the time of hiring.

10.APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application period runs from 27 of February to 11 march

11.PUBLICATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS METHOD

The evaluation results will be communicated via email to the email address provided in the application process.

12.COMPLAINT AND APPEAL PROCEDURES

If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the disclosure of the evaluation results, to make their remarks, if desired, within the framework of a prior hearing of interested parties, as provided for in the administrative procedure code. From the final decision referred to in the preceding paragraphs, a hierarchical appeal may be filed with the president of isep within 15 working days after its notification

13.SELECTION RESERVE

ISEP reserves the right to resort to non-selected candidates, in order of ranking, for the hiring of a scholarship holder under the same project in the event of the initial candidate selected withdrawing.
