Job description

In this Postdoc position, the candidate is expected to research upon pulp and paper processes integrated with oxy-fuel combustion technologies and CO2 capture and utilization/storage (CCS/CCUS). The candidate will work with process modelling and simulation, techno-economic and system level analysis, with a focus on integrating oxy-fuel recovery boiler in a pulp and paper process. The CO2 from the exhaust gas will be captured either for permanent storage or utilization to produce e-fuels. The candidate will also contribute to ongoing research activities in the research group within CCUS. The position is part of a Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) project that aims to develop an oxy-fuel recovery boiler technology (https://blogs2.abo.fi/oxykraft/). The postdoc candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with national and international academic and industry partners. The postdoc will be placed in the Division of Energy Processes at the Department of Chemical Engineering, CBH School, KTH and will work together with Shareq Mohd Nazir and Klas Engvall. The division is led by Stefan Grönkvist.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Experience with process modelling and simulation and techno-economic analysis related to bioenergy conversion, e-fuels/synthetic fuel synthesis and CCS/CCUS

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • A research background in the topic of bioenergy conversion, e-fuels/synthetic fuels, CO2 capture and utilization or storage.
  • Experience with process modelling using Aspen and techno-economic analysis.
  • The ability to collaborate with different research teams in addition to performing independent research.
  • Teaching abilities
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
