Job description:PhD Student (f/m/d) Investigations on bubble-induced turbulence

With cutting-edge research in the fields of ENERGY, HEALTH and MATTER, around 1,500 employees from more than 70 nations at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) are committed to mastering the great challenges facing society today.

The Institute of Fluid Dynamics is conducting basic and applied research in the fields of thermo-fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics in order to improve the sustainability, the energy efficiency and the safety of industrial processes.

The Group "Bubbles go with the turbulent flows" is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d) Investigations on bubble-induced turbulence

Your tasks

# Extension of an existing test rig for bubbly flows with built-in components
# Conducting fluid mechanical measurement series on a bubble column with high-speed cameras
# Evaluation and analysis of particle trajectories
# Multiscale analysis for the investigation of bubble-induced turbulence and corresponding modelling

Your profile

# Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of mechanical engineering, process engineering, physics or a related field
# Knowledge in the field of fluid mechanics/multiphase flows
# Experimental skills and experience in image processing are desirable
# Structured and solution-orientated work
# Strong motivation to work in a collaborative environment
# Experience in data processing and programming, especially with the scripting language Matlab or Python
# Good communication skills in written and spoken English and German
