Research Studentships for PhD students - (BL39/2024_IST-ID)

Applications are open for one (1) Research Studentships, within the framework of project (1801P.00992.1.01) CEFEMA UIDP/04540/2020 - LINHA CENTRAL - IST-ID financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC)

Workplan: Study of organic electroactive materials as cathodes for dual-ion batteries.

The main objective of this work is to study the electrochemical properties of new TTF derivatives to determine which ones have the best properties for battery usage, as well as the best conditions for said usage. The results would allow for the potential of the synthesized TTF derivative cathodes in aqueous batteries to be assessed, as well as make predictions about the effect different end groups have on the electrochemical behavior of the TTF molecule. The work would be done by first synthesizing the TTF derivatives. Following the synthesis, the compounds would be identified and characterized through ¹H and ¹³C NMR as well as mass spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrochemical characterization would be done through CV, CA, EIS, and GCD, testing each compound in different electrolytes and different concentrations of the same electrolyte, as well as changing electrolyte pH and using different electrode ink recipes.

Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 10 months. It’s expected to begin as soon as possible and may not be renewed.
