Offer Description
One position for a Ph.D. candidate is open within the PNRR project "Group schemes, root systems, and related representations", at the Simion Stoilow Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy (IMAR), in Bucharest, Romania. The project director is Phillipe Gille (Lyon 1 University, France and IMAR). The position is full time (160 hours/month) with a competitive stipend, and is available starting April 1, 2024, until June 30, 2026. The project website is available at the address:

The candidate should have a strong background in at least one theme of the project: number theory (modular forms, multiple Dirichlet series, automorphic representations), Lie algebras and their root systems (including of ane type), representation theory.
It is expected that the candidate will be formally enrolled in the School of Mathematics of the Doctoral School of the Romanian Academy (SCOSAAR), under the supervision of Professor Alexandru Popa. Other members of the number theory group at IMAR are Adrian Diaconu and Vicentiu Pasol.
