Offer Description
The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2200 people.
For the Photon Science Detector Group we are looking for a
Postdoctoral Fellow
in detector development, 80 % or more, flextime
Your tasks
You will participate in the exciting development of cutting-edge X-ray detectors for next generation light sources employing high-Z sensors. You will evaluate detector prototypes with various sensor materials (e.g, GaAs, CdTe, CdZnTe and novel materials like perovskites or quantum dots). You will perform experiments and beamtimes, analyze the data, and try to correlate the detector performance with the material properties. As our group philosophy relies on a strong teamwork, you will be able to get an insight in all aspects of detector development, from the design of all detectors components to the final pilot experiments.
