Offer Description
The Department of Water, Atmosphere and Environment, Institute of Safety and Risk Sciences is currently seeking a Postgraduate Research Associate (project employment).
Extent of employment: 20 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of April 2024, limited to 30th of November 2027
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1, € 1.789,40
Responsibilities:
As part of the advertised position, criteria for a sustainability assessment of "Advanced Materials" are to be formulated.
In addition to criteria for assessing the environmental impact and economic aspects, which will be developed primarily in
cooperation with partner institutions, the focus will be on developing criteria for assessing the social impact. This task is part of a method with which the European Commission's strategy for the development of safe and sustainable chemicals and materials (SSbD) is to be implemented. As part of the activity, it will also be analysed together with the other project partners of the EU Sunrise project how the new method could be anchored within the EU's legal framework for materials and chemicals. The tasks are therefore primarily dedicated to socio-technical and socioecological issues and also concern the regulation of technologies. In order to fulfil these tasks, a constant exchange with the other project partners is necessary. The position is suitable for a dissertation.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Diploma degree in a either a social science or b) an economic, legal, environmental science or technical field (if social science expertise can also be demonstrated in the latter) or other equivalent university degree
- Language skills: English and German

- The ambition to contribute to the sustainable and riskminimising design of technologies with differentiated and indepth
approaches
