Offer Description
A competition is open for the award of a Research Grant, within the scope of the Program Contract between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, through the General Directorate of Higher Education, the Foundation for Science and Technology, the Government Regional Agency of Madeira, the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation, the Association for the Development of the International Research Center for the Atlantic – Air Center and the University of Madeira, under the following conditions:
I. Scientific Area: Hotel Management, Management, Economics, Cultural Management, or related areas.
II. Admission requirements:
a) General requirements:
• Master's degree in Hotel Management, Management, Economics, Cultural Management, or related areas;
• Candidates must be enrolled/enrolled in a 3rd cycle study program.
b) Preferential requirements:
• Experience in using statistical software (example SPSS);
• Good knowledge of spoken and written Portuguese and English.
III. Work plan:
Following the Program Contract between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, through the General Directorate of Higher Education, the Foundation for Science and Technology, the Regional Government of Madeira, the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation, the Association for the Development of the International Research Center for the Atlantic – Air Center and the University of Madeira, it is necessary to open a research grant in order to collect data and analyze the information (economic, social and environmental), which will support the identification of problems common to the main actors in the tourism sector, proposal of solutions, as well as options and policies that contribute to the development of the tourism industry.
IV. Applicable legislation and regulations: Law No. 40/2004, of August 18 (Statute of Scientific Research Fellow); Regulation of Research Grants from the Foundation for Science and Technology and Regulation of Grants from the University of Madeira.
V. Workplace:
The work will be developed at the Tourism Observatory, under the scientific guidance of Prof. Doctor Susana Teles
SAW. Duration of the scholarship(s): The scholarship will last 12 months. The scholarship contract may eventually be renewed.
VII. Amount of the monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1199.64 (one thousand one hundred and ninety-nine euros and sixty-four cents), according to the table of scholarship values awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).
VIII. Selection methods:
• Curricular evaluation: 60%
• Interview: 40%
The interview is mandatory. Candidates who do not present themselves for the interview will be excluded.
IX. Composition of the Selection Jury:
President: Prof. Susana Teles, Adjunct Professor at the Higher School of Technologies and Management of the University of Madeira;
Effective Member: Prof. Doctor António Manuel Martins de Almeida, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Madeira;
Effective Member: Prof. Doctor Élvio José Sousa Camacho, Guest Adjunct Professor at the Higher School of Technologies and Management of the University of Madeira;
Substitute Member: Prof. Doctor Ricardo Jorge Castro de Correia, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Madeira.
X. Publication/Notification Form of Results: Admission lists as well as the results of each selection method and final sorting lists will be advertised on the Human Resources Unit page - University of Madeira Baggins Core, http: // urh.uma.pt/, with the candidate notified via email.
XI. Application deadline and form of submission of applications
a) The competition is open within 10 working days after the publication of the Notice.
b) Applications must be formalized by sending a detailed curriculum vitae, dated and signed, a copy of the qualifications certificate and proof of enrollment in the 3rd cycle of studies as required in II and other documents considered relevant by the candidate .
c) Applications must be delivered in person during the period from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Human Resources Unit – Scholarship Center of the University of Madeira, located at the Colégio dos Jesuítas, Rua dos Ferreiros, 9000-081 Funchal or by post to the same Service and address and also by email to nucleo.bolseiro@mail.uma.pt, addressed to the President of the Jury, with the scholarship reference in the subject.
