Offer Description

Successful candidate will join the team working on the modelling of the beta-omega phase transition in metastable beta-Ti alloys. The specific research tasks planned for the postdoc researcher include: (i) development of new models within the phase-field method; (i) analysis of omega-phase nucleation scenarios; (iii) performing computer simulations of microstructure evolution. The theoretical and computational tools will include micromechanics, finite-element method and phase-field method. The scope of work can be to some extent adjusted to the profile and background of the candidate. The project is run in a close collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. The project is led by Prof. Stanislaw Stupkiewicz, head of the Materials Modelling Group at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research (IPPT), Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
