Offer Description
The Institute of Microbiology at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic, is actively seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral fellows.
We are specifically looking for individuals who are eager to explore the fundamental mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis.
Our research in the Laboratory of Infection Biology concentrates on unraveling the molecular and cellular aspects of bacterial virulence, with a particular emphasis on the type III secretion system.
The work will be conducted in a multidisciplinary laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art resources, cell/tissue/animal models, and access to excellent core facilities.
Description of position No.1, mentored by Dr. Jana Kamanova: The successful candidate will investigate the molecular mechanisms of action of the type III secretion system of Aeromonas. The position involves integrating reverse genetics of Aeromonas, advanced super-resolution microscopy methods, and techniques from biochemistry and structural biology. We are in search of a self-motivated and collaborative scientist with a robust foundation in molecular microbiology, and practical experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or structural biology. Prior exposure to imaging techniques like fluorescence confocal and super-resolution microscopy is advantageous. The successful candidate will take the lead in their own projects while actively contributing to collaborative endeavors.
Description of position No.2, mentored by Dr. Ondrej Cerny: The successful candidate will implement combination of immunological assays with single cell and spatial transcriptomic to dissect how parallel encounters between infected or bystander dendritic cells and T cells blend to the prospective immune response in the context of Salmonella infection. We seek a self-motivated and collaborative scientist with a strong background in immunology. The applicant should prove practical experience with animal work, broad range of immunological assays, and single cell analysis techniques. Prior experience in transcriptomic techniques is desirable.
The successful candidate will lead their own projects, contribute to other projects and may guide PhD students in their research.
