The Centre for Public Health, School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint a Research Fellow.

The programme of research is focused on building strategies for the society by interviewing patients with visual loss and their carers, healthcare professionals and charities to gather in-depth view of what interventions and solution might be beneficial here in NI.

This post is available on a fixed term contract for 5 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • A PhD in a public health /visual health related topic, such as epidemiology, medical statistics, social science, built environment
  • Recent, specific research experience and skills relevant to this project, such as experience in data analysis in health system studies with relevance to the built environment and visual impairment.
  • Experience with working with people with visual impairment.
  • Experience in working with certification of visual impairment.
  • Experience in managing and analysing community-based datasets including visual impairment and blindness statistics.
  • Experience using SPSS and also qualitative data analysis software.
  • Experience in writing and submitting academic papers, including having published on the topic of visual impairment.
