Offer Description

A successful candidate will be working in the Uranium and Stable Isotopes Laboratory on projects focused on U-Th dating, palaeoenvironment reconstructions, or environmental studies. The position will cover laboratory activities both analytical and technical, organization and workflow issues, grant applications, cooperation with other team members, scientific results interpretation, and writing scientific publications.

The employment starts no later than April 2024.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Master's degree in Earth Sciences;

2. Good command of spoken and written English, at least basic ability to communicate in Polish;

3. Experience in sample preparation for uranium-thorium dating, including work in clean lab conditions;

4. Experience in mass spectrometer measurements;

5. Ability to prepare grant applications and report research results in the form of scientific articles supported by a relevant publication record;

6. Strong motivation to work as part of a team and to advance scientific development in the field of geochronology and environmental geochemistry.

Selection process

Evaluation procedure

The position is to be filled no later than April 2024.

A strong record of research activities in geochronology, mass spectrometry and laboratory experience relevant to the position will be the preferred criterion for the successful candidate selection. The applications will be assessed by an independent evaluation commission, whose responsibility will be to rank the candidates according to their merits and potential. Based on this assessment, IGS PAS will sign the contract with the successful candidate.
