Offer Description
Summary: There is an open call for two (2) Research Initiation Grants (“Bolsas de Iniciação à Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of Project Route 25 - Project No. 29. This project is funded by the European Union / Next Generation EU, through Programa de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR).

Group: Embedded Systems – Av
Work Objectives: 1. Implementation of protocols, tools and applications for use cases, supported by vehicular communications and roadside sensors, according to the Route 25 project requirements 2. Design, installation and operation of components (RSUs, OBUs, backhauling network, sensors, data aggregation platforms, autonomous vehicle, etc.) for the large-scale demonstrator. 3. Preparation of documentation, including technical reports and scientific papers, and participation in writing Route 25 project deliverables.
Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Joaquim Ferreira.
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 1 year. Start date: March 2024 or soon thereafter.

Admission Requirements:
Research Initiation Grants are intended:
- for students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, undergraduate degree, integrated master's degree, or master's degree, to undertake initial R&D activities, with a view to beginning their scientific training through integration in R&D projects to be developed in national institutions.
- for students carrying out initial R&D activities who are enrolled in non-degree courses integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
Candidates must be enrolled in a higher professional technical course, a bachelor's degree, an integrated master’s, or a master’s degree in computers and Telematics Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications engineering, or equivalent.
Additional Information
Monthly salary: 601.12€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection criteria:
C1 - Curriculum vitae/Academic evaluation (70%);
C2 - Adequacy of the candidate's profile to the project based on relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan (30%).
Candidates may be interviewed to clarify any aspect related to the above criteria. The Jury has the right not to admit any candidates who have applied for this position whenever they consider that she/he does not meet the minimum requirements.
