English) that includes the scientific
achievements of the candidate, that is:
a list of publications,
employment history in scientific
institutions and participation in
research projects (including scope
of duties),
information on scientific
experience gained in Poland or
abroad,
information on workshops and
training attended,
information on participation in
scientific conferences,
any other relevant information
related to the scope of tasks in the
project.
c. two publications that the candidate
considers to be their most significant
contributions (in English, Polish,
Ukrainian or Russian)
d. copy of PhD certificate,
e. letter of recommendation by other
scholar (with minimum PhD degree), in
Polish or English.
Job tasks:
Participation in a research project
“Researching the Collecting, Preserving,
Analysing and Disclosing of Ukrainian
Testimonies of the 2022 War”, headed by
dr Anna Wylegała, funded by the National
Science Centre as part of the competition
“OPUS-24 LAP”, No. DEC-
2022/47/I/HS6/03071, in particular:
1. Preparing of the concept of the
analytical work with interview material,
including literature research and preparing
theoretical basis,
2. Analysis of the body of sources created
in the project (interviews recorded in Poland, Ukraine and Luxembourg),
including with the use of software for
qualitative data analysis (training provided),
3. Conducting 10-20 interviews with
experts, depending on the concept of the
analytical work,
4. Preparing at least three scientific
articles in English on the basis of this
analysis and submitting them for
publication in a journal that will meet the
NSC’s requirements for open access
publication,
5. Preparing and delivering at least four
conference papers on the basis of this
analysis,
6. Participating in the project team’s
twice-monthly meetings (remote
participation is possible) and attending
three on-site workshops (in Warsaw and
Luxembourg),
7. Participating in administrative work
related to the tasks performed (e.g.
organisation of conferences and scientific
meetings).

* knowledge of contemporary Ukrainian
society and Ukrainian history,
● interest and research experience in at
least one of the following fields: memory
studies, heritage studies, nationalism,
national and ethnic identity, migration,
and refugee studies,
● very good knowledge of English, active
knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian
(and passive knowledge of the second
mentioned language),
● analytical skills,
● independence and good organization of
work,
● interest in digital humanities will be an
adventage.

Additional Information
11 000 PLN (gross amount, including all
costs borne by the employer)
PhD in sociology or humanities, preferably:
sociology, history, anthropology (PhD
should be obtained outside IFiS PAN within
7 years before the 1st of January of the
year of their employment in the project;
persons who obtained their PhD in IFiS
PAN can be candidates on condition of
completing at least 10 months of
continuous and documented postdoctoral
internship in another entity and in a country
other than the country in which the doctoral
degree was obtained).

The competition will take place in three stages. In the first stage, the
Competition Commission will make an initial assessment of the candidates
on the basis of the submitted documents. The highest ranked applicants will
be asked to prepare a max 3-pages proposal of the analytical work with the
interview material, on the basis of the sample material made available to
them in advance. Afterward, the most promising candidates will be invited
for an interview to present their concept.
If the number of candidates who meet the competition criteria is low, the
organizer reserves the right to extend the deadline for the submission of
documents and postpone the interviews. In the event that the selected
candidate resigns, the organizer reserves the right to appoint the next
person from the ranking list.
The interviews are scheduled to take place between 18 and 22 March 2024
at the Institute's headquarters (Warsaw, Nowy Świat 72) or via the Zoom
platform.
