Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Community Inclusion Research Coordinator UCD School of Medicine
Applications are invited for the position of Community Inclusion Research Coordinator to support the implementation of a public engagement project `Cut from the Same Cloth: Engaging Minority Communities in STEM'
Research should be shaped by the many diverse voices in Ireland today. This project will engage women and girls from minority communities in health research. It will establish connections between communities and researchers. It will build trust in an open, equitable and accessible way through community-based workshops involving textiles.
In this project, biomedical researchers and women from migrant communities, will collaborate as equal partners on neutral territory to co-create an exhibition about their connection to textiles.
This is a two-year project beginning in January 2024. In 2024, 10 workshops will take place bringing researchers and migrant women together and creating an exhibition based on these interactions and the stories told. In 2025, the resulting curated exhibition will tour in 5 venues nationwide and include a public engagement event at each venue.
The project is led by Professor Amanda McCann PhD, School of Medicine, Chair of the Public and Patient Involvement initiative, The Patient Voice in Cancer Research (PVCR).
The successful candidate will work closely with UCD Conway Institute management team (public engagement & involvement), the research community and, where applicable, external partners, to ensure effective implementation of the programme, including i) coordinating the day-to-day activities of the programme; ii) ensuring effective communication between all partners; iii) communication and dissemination of the programme activities.
The Community Inclusion Research Coordinator will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly motivated, self-driven, and have proven ability to act on his/her own initiative. He/she will need to have experience in cultivating and managing effective stakeholder relationships. Applicants should have project management skills; be capable of managing a diverse workload and be prepared to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines. Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills are necessary. The role will require travel to events that may take place at weekends or evenings.
Fixed Salary: €42,400 (pro rata)
