The Institute Electrochemical Energy Storage is looking for

Scientist (f/m/d) for Zernike Phase Contrast Nano Tomography of Polymer Batteries

Your Tasks

  • You will be responsible for the 3D structure and morphology analysis of polymer electrode materials using synchrotron nano-tomography, FIB/SEM tomography and electron microscopy.
  • You will be responsible for the construction of a tomographic battery setup for operando tomography and tomographic imaging of 3D structures during cycling.
  • You will create complex 3D data analyses and visualizations with special 3D software using machine learning tools like neural networks.
  • You will reveal 3D structure-property relationships.
  • You will research the main causes of performance and lifetime limitations of polymer batteries.

Your Profile

  • Master's degree/diploma in physics, chemistry, materials science or comparable
  • Very good knowledge of physical measurement techniques and good knowledge of physical interaction mechanisms (radiation-matter)
  • Basic knowledge of physical three- or multidimensional data spaces; good programming skills
  • Very good teamwork skills and high motivation to work in an interdisciplinary team within a large network
  • Highly proficient in written English with good oral skills
