Offer Description
Project information:
The focus of the joint research line of the teams of Dr. Marleen Kok and Dr. Karin de Visser is on studying the systemic aspects of the anti-cancer immune response in breast cancer patients. Important findings generated utilizing sophisticated mouse tumor models need urgent validation to the clinic. We analyze immunosuppressive features in parallel with the effector function of immune cells using high-dimensional multi-parameter flow cytometry (FACS) in fresh blood samples of breast cancer patients. In addition, we use single-cell RNA sequencing and other complex technologies to study the tumor microenvironment to further characterize the most crucial immunosuppressive cells. This work enables better understanding of response to immunotherapy (anti-PD1) in breast cancer and will help the discovery of novel immunomodulatory targets. You will work in a collaborative and enthusiastic international team, including postdocs, MDs, PhD students and research technicians.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic technician with a strong interest in tumor immunology and breast cancer and a great team spirit. We expect you to be flexible, to have a hands-on mentality and to have a sense for accuracy and reliability. You should also have strong communication skills in English. Speaking Dutch is a plus. A proven track record, or affinity, with flow cytometry (FACS) and/or single-cell RNA sequencing is required. The candidate should have a BSc/MSc degree in biology, biomedical sciences or related subject at University level or a BSc degree at HBO level. The candidate will also perform organizational tasks for the lab, and combining the lab work with coordinating tasks for the clinical research projects (research assistant) is a possibility.
Additional Information
You will be employed in the research groups of Dr. Marleen Kok and Prof. Dr Karin de Visser. You will work in a pleasant team with a great working atmosphere.
We offer a contract for 1 year, with the possibility for extension. The gross salary per month will range from € 2.832- to €4.324,- according to FWG-function group 45 or 50, depending on education and previous experience. The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals).
